Just last week, I took an online course from CZT Heidi Kay. Heidi taught us how to prep the tile with colors first before tangling on it. The end result is a colored Zentangle tile (with its philosophy of 4 corner dots, a border, and tangling only in black and white Gelly roll still being applied). I enjoyed this process and it’s one way to beat the mere black and white pattern. Having said this, I still enjoyed the original Zentangle method (which focuses on black and white drawings) and I enjoyed tangling without colors just as much.
