Services

I am foremost a spiritual director in the Christian tradition and schooled in Ignatian spirituality (finding God in all things).

I am also trained in counselling and integrated psychotherapy. In my ministry as spiritual director and psychotherapist, I blend creative tools and healing modalities such as talk therapy, counselling treatment options such as Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), Cognitive Behavioral therapy (CBT), narrative (storytelling) therapy, drawing, writing and mindful practices with spirituality.

If a client is open to spiritual interventions, I will also provide help with prayer methods and prayer materials. Check this out: Prayer and EFT Tapping!

If a client is open to exploring body practices using the gentle art of touch, I could offer Bio-Touch™, and Jin Shin Jyutsu®.

I am passionate about creating crafted exercises and content to accompany seekers.

Spiritual Direction and Supervision

There are common things that spiritual directors, counselors and practitioners in the helping ministry do. One common stance is they listen. The “Director” in spiritual direction is the Holy Spirit. If your prayer life is dull, or you are discerning a new calling, or if you struggle to experience God’s presence in your life, then spiritual direction may be for you. Some people undergo spiritual direction for years. Some want accountability to ensure that they have a prayer life; some find it helpful to have a trained practitioner who could them to process God’s soft whispers.

Supervision focuses on the spiritual director so they can better serve their clients and their relationship with the Divine. I had training in the supervision of spiritual directors from Mercy Center, Burlingame, USA.

Counselling

Counselling allows you to look deeper into your problems and worries, and deal with troublesome habits and a wide range of mental health issues, such as depression and anxiety. If you are in crisis, and need tools to help you tide over, say, your behavior or addictions, then counselling may be what you need. Some examples could be know-how to deal with explosive anger, or panic attacks, or binge-eating. There are some counselees who do two-prong approaches, that is, they undergo both counselling and spiritual direction in their effort to get better in mind-body-spirit.

Psycho-Spiritual Counselling/ Therapy

Psycho-spiritual counselling/therapy is a practice that integrates spirituality, mental health, wellness and human development (psychology) modalities. In this relationship, a client’s psychological and emotional needs are integrated with spiritual approaches.

“Science, philosophy and religion are bound to converge as they draw nearer to the whole.”

“We are not human beings having a spiritual experience; we are spiritual beings having a human experience.”

We go to counselors when we want help getting out of caves. We go to [spiritual] directors when we are ready to be led further in.

Barbara Brown Taylor in “Learning to Walk in the Dark

Counseling is often short-term and helps a person work through specific problems, such as a relationship challenge, stress, and addiction.

Psychotherapy is often long-term and goes deeper into exploring and managing unhealthy patterns of behavior, thinking and emotional responses that negatively impact how a person perceives and interacts with the world.

Psychotherapy is the short form of the term ‘psychological therapy’. It is similar to counselling with the exception of the mental health practitioner using a specific modality that they [the practitioners] have specialized in.”
